About the event
Virtual universes, digital collectives, and technological realms inspire new forms of artistic practice. During the MetaTalks, artists, curators, and industry professionals who work in contemporary art and digital technology in Cyprus are invited to get into conversation and discuss the future of art in the Metaverse. During the MetaTalks we will delve deep into the metaverse with a series of round table discussions on various related topics such as AI, NFT’s and different realities.
Through these round table discussions, we'll share insights and explore key questions such as: How do AR and VR technologies challenge traditional notions of space, time, and physicality in art? What new possibilities do they offer for immersive storytelling and artistic expression? Are NFTs democratizing the art world by providing new avenues for artists to showcase and sell their work directly to collectors, or do they create new barriers to entry and exacerbate inequalities? What ethical considerations should artists and institutions consider when working with AI in the creation of artworks? How can they address issues related to authorship, ownership, and the impact on traditional artistic practices?
The MetaTalk series will start on May 3 at 7pm with a keynote from curator Yev Kravt, followed by guest speakers, a round table discussion, and wrapped up by MetaDrinks and bites.
